Besides these family owned businesses, the Chen family has invested and own significant parts of some of the largest and most profitable businesses in Taiwan. Fong Cherng Fishery Co., Ltd. (F.C.F.) was started by Shui-Lai Chen and close business friends in 1972. F.C.F. has since grown to be the largest import / export trading company of sea products in Taiwan. This international trading company has branch offices all over the world, ranging from places such as Japan to the Falkland Islands, Montevideo to Singapore. The Chen family also owns a large portion of Kwang Yang Industries Co., Ltd. (also known as "KYMCO"). KYMCO Industries is a self-operated and Taiwanese owned division of the Japanese Honda located in Taiwan whose founders also include Shui-Lai Chen. KYMCO's main industry is the production of motorcycles which are sold not only in the domestic market but internationally as well. KYMCO has exploded into the market in China as well and has set up two large factories there. Using domestic as well as foreign parts and domestic labor, KYMCO has managed to link Taiwanese and Chinese business interests and in the meantime outsell every other foreign motorcycle manufacturer.
