Our
shipbuilding division is led by Ching Fu Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.,
which was established in 1989 and quickly became the first private
shipyard in Taiwan to build international standard product carriers
and multi-purpose ships. Our shipyard is capable of building many
types of vessels including oil and chemical tankers up to 15,000
tons, general product carriers, high tech marine research vessels,
1500 - 2300 ton super tuna purse seiners, high speed patrol boats
and many types of tug boats..
At Ching Fu we are extremely proud of our achievements in elevating
the Taiwanese shipbuilding standards of quality and technology as
evidenced in our shipbuilding record. We maintain our technological
superiority through cooperation with a variety of international
partners. Our shipyard was granted by DNV ISO-9002 certification
in 1996 and ISO-9001:2000 in 2003.
In 1995, 3-D engineering and naval architecture software, developed
by Numerick Centrum Gronigen of the Netherlands, were adopted by
our yard and are used from the stage of basic design through the
end of production. Members of Ching Fu's staff are trained in this
software in an ongoing program at the main offices of NCG in Groningen,
Netherlands.
Campbell Industries of the United States transferred the technological
knowledge to build their Super Pacific Class Tuna Purse Seiners.
Ching Fu takes pride in the fact that it will be the only shipyard
in Taiwan licensed to build these vessels. To build a 14,000 DWT
Product and Oil Carrier, for Norwegian owners, which is chartered
by Norsk Hydro a.s. also of Norway, Ching Fu cooperated with SI-Shipping
of Sweden and the Danish Maritime Institute of Denmark. This record
breaking vessel is the largest ship ever constructed at a private
shipyard in Taiwan. In addition, the two 8,000 DWT general cargo
carriers delivered to Japanese owners were designed by Mitsubishi
Heavy Industries. These vessels were the first Japanese vessels
to be built at a private shipyard in Taiwan.
Ching Fu also uses its superior experience and skill to help upgrade
and maintain the Taiwanese Navy. We delivered eight naval tugs which
are used in conjunction with the Navy's La Fayette vessels that
were built by DCNi of France. Ching Fu is also provides spares and
ILS support for this LaFayeete fleet. In further cooperation with
DCNi of France, Ching Fu provides the sales for their Mine Countermeasures
System. We are also the only authorized main engine repair and service
center for the French engine maker Pilstick. Pilstick's marine engines
power the Navy's six La Fayettes.
To build the 600 Ton High Speed Patrol Vessels for the Taiwanese
Coast Guard, Ching Fu formed an alliance with the world renowned
German Shipbuilding company, Lürssen. In order to fully assess
the capability of this vessel's design and test its lines, a tank
test was done in Englands Royal Navy Tank. We are extremely proud
that these vessels were recorded in the prestigious world navies
reference manual, "Jane's Fighting Ships"
In addition to newshipbuilding, Ching Fu can also provide ship
repair and conversion services. Ching Fu is able to complete repair
work under all Classification Societies including ABS, DNV, LR,
NK, BV and CR.
At the beginning of 2002, Fong Kuo Shipbuilding merged its ownership
and management with Ching Fu, further expanding our shipbuilding
capacity and making us one of the largest private shipyards in Taiwan
with almost 40 years of shipbuilding experience.
